About
I'm Julian Jordan, an award winning cinematographer based in Los Angeles. I was born and raised in San Francisco, and recently graduated with honors from UCSC with a BA in Film and Digital Media. I also attended UCLA Film & Television Summer Institute, and FAMU in Prague through CIEE during my semester abroad. Through my diverse education, I have honed my craft, focusing not only on the technical and creative aspects of filmmaking, but also the intricate skills of communicating with crews to translate a director's narrative vision into captivating visuals. I strive for my work to prioritize and balance spectacle with storytelling through carefully crafted shots and sequences that best fit the director's vision.
I was passionate about filmmaking from a very early age, starting with stop motion films when I was just five years old, then developed as a well rounded director through my time at the selective SF public arts high school. Upon entering college, I decided to specialize in cinematography, building my own curriculum in production courses while shooting for my peers. I now have 5+ years of experience with my camera and G&E package.
I also have extensive experience shooting in extreme environments, ranging from narratives in the deserts of Death Valley and the farmlands of Clearlake, CA; to documentaries in institutions such as the Marine Mammal Center and the alpine mountains of the Sierra Nevadas, and even biking across the USA.
My work includes short films that have screened at San Francisco, Mill Valley, and Heartland International film festivals, local commercials, music videos, videography for two feature films, and most recently the second unit director of photography for a Loyola Marymount University (LMU) graduate thesis film that was screening at the Los Angeles Shorts International film festival.
